**UPDATE** After reaching out to customer service several times in several different ways over 2 days, I received a response back via the Amazon Portal. I was THRILLED to find that even though it had taken a couple of days to receive a response, they had been working toward a resolution in the meantime.

They escalated the issue and had the DEP chip removed. About 2 weeks after the escalation, I hadn’t received notification that the issue had been resolved. This must have been a minor issue because once I factory reset the MacBook, the issue was resolved!!

I received my restored MacBook. While there are many scratches on the outside of the laptop, that didn't bother me much. I figured, that's easily covered up and is worth the money I saved.

However, the problem began the moment I turned it on. I was never given an option to sign in with my Apple ID, and when I logged into my wifi I was immediately informed that the "Sauk Rapids-Rice Sch Dist 47" has Administrative Access and there was no way around it. I accepted the reality to proceed with the device set-up only to find Clever, the Code of Conduct, and Handbook for the district has been pre-loaded onto my desktop.

It would appear that literally nothing was "RESTORED" prior to shipping me this laptop.

When I call the customer service number, it goes directly to voicemail for “Mike”. So, I reached out via Amazon. I received an initial reply asking for my serial number, but no updates since. I tried the number several times with the same result.

Until the issue is resolved, all I feel is devastating disappointment. However, I promise to update my post and rating if/when someone reaches out to correct this issue.

Somewhat disappointed with the reality of the hype of "Amazon renewed", and the reality of what I received. The product I was shipped had its share of flaws "visible at arms length", and was shipped with a non-functional charger. The charger quite actually looked like it was garbage picked. The computer had zero battery power, and was last booted up two operating systems ago, and likely has not been charged for two years or more. This is more likely on the seller(who ghosted me when contacted about the charger, than on Amazon. The buyer should be aware of these scenarios. I am in no way displeased with the product or its performance.

So - it arrived not working out of the box, 2 months later I can't use it at all, I have to find packing materials so it doesn't break when I ship it back, I have to bring it to UPS because Amazon wouldn't pay for a pick-up service, and I have no working laptop.

I knew by choosing a refurbished computer, I was taking a risk, but I never expected this. When I received this MacBook Air, I was surprised it was the model Apple stopped making in 2017, since the title said “Newest Version.” I emailed the seller and they said Amazon forced that in the title and told me I could return it. I work full time, am in grad school, and have three kids. I figured with it being an Apple it would last long enough to get me through school, so I kept it. Now, six months later the screen won’t turn on. It’s completely black.

I am able to connect to an external monitor and use the computer that way, so I know it’s the display. After trying to adjust the brightness, several resets, resetting the SMC and the PRAM, I called Apple Support. They ruled out all software issues and told me it had to be the hardware.

At this point I contacted the seller and they basically told me “sorry, it’s outside of the 90 day window so there’s nothing we will do for you.” I have escalated to Amazon trying to get some kind of resolution. They just confirmed there is nothing they are willing to do for me. They also are not doing anything to penalize the seller, All Out Apple. I'm shocked at Amazon. Shady sellers like All Out Apple will always be around, but I really thought Amazon was better than Ebay in that way. Lesson Learned.

There is no reason a MacBook Air should have a display of a completely stops functioning after six months of use, even refurbished. I’m grateful that I had a work-provided monitor I can plug into to do my schoolwork, but if I was aiming to be tethered to my desk, I would have bought a Mac Mini.

I have made multiple attempts to contact this seller- cannot get anyone via phone or email. I bought this in Feb of 2022. It came with a 3 month warranty which now I realize was intentional. In the beginning of June I went to charge it and it wouldn’t charge. I bought a new charger hoping that was the problem, but it wasn’t. I tried multiple outlets. It just stopped working. I reported it to Amazon and they contacted the company and they said since I was outside the 3 month warranty (by like a couple weeks) they would not fix or replace. So I spent almost $400 to use the MacBook for 3 months. I’ll never buy from this company or get another refurbished product again.

This is a great computer that I bought Feb. 2021. By August 2022 (today) the battery died. If it's advertised as sold with at least 80% capacity for the battery, this didn't last very long. And this is with minimal use. Now, in a time of need, we've got to pay 129.00 at an Apple store, or purchase a battery here on Amazon for 30-40.00, wait and install ourselves. I have multiple Macs- one MBA that lasted 11 years without any battery issues, a current 2020 M1 (personal) and 2022 M1 (work). I get older models for my college kid and spouse, and this is what happens.
